Couple interesting radio cabinets showed up at the shop. I was hired to repair and refinish this rare Zenith 809. Little veneer work and structure work then refinish time. The other is a mantel radio. Stay tuned in for this one.

Yes its in darn good shape, the top is loose will need gluing and small area of figured veneer will be patched in.

Spent time in shop today, cabinet structure has been glued and nice and solid now, stripped and lightly sanded. Next will be a small veneer repair, grain fill, stain and toned if need be then lacquer sealer then top coats of lacquer. I know some of you guys that finish cabinets may not do it the same as i do and that's just fine whatever works for you and your happy with the results.

All finished now , cabinet came out looking very nice. Quite a bit of detailed work went into this one. Once you start getting into working on it you start finding things that were not noticeable at first examination of cabinet and that is usually the case. I guess you could call it unforeseen problems , therefore you deal with them and go on. This rare Zenith lives again and will be a top shelve radio for sure , thanks for looking.
