This little uncommon zenith 801 came over for a fresh makeover , body work and paint as they say in the body shop, it came from one our club members here on the forum as did the zenith tombstone that on another thread now , cabinet sure does need it. The book matched walnut veneer on each side is shot along with the inlay, missing half of it and is bubbled up bad.. Will apply new book matched burl veneer and replace the checkered inlay, Stay tuned in if you want to see this little one come out looking like a jewel off a pirates ship.

The owner of this radio has all the parts to it, I'm just doing the cabinet for him.

Heres the corner gap problem that was repaired. That there is a good repair something that will last. This cabinet was suffering from some water damage the problems it sustained was from water no doubt. I did notice a older veneer repair on the top and will see if the customer wants it replaced while in surgery. Shown in one picture see if you can spot it out.

File comment: Can you see it? on the center top stepped up portion of the cabinet. The cabinet had been repaired and refinished before I could tell.

Ok this little Zenith Mantel is finished as well and came out of surgery with flying colors. Some what of a time consuming effort even though its a little cabinet it made it though nice and solid cabinet with the new walnut burl veneer and factory patterned inlays strips across the front . Water must have gotten on the cabinet at some point and did some damage to the veneer . I think now the cabinet looks very nice again, time consuming tedious job but well worth the effort to save this piece of Zenith history. Thanks for looking.

It may not be that difficult for you because you have the tools, experience and expertise to do it right. I look at the before and after pictures on your posts and to me what you do is indistinguishable from magic. You, sir, are an artist of the highest caliber and I'm in awe of your skill.
