HI:

SOUNDS LIKE A MECHCANICAL PROBLEM HAS CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

IT IS POSSIBLE THE VACUUM MOTOR MAY HAVE SHORTED.

Thanks Chuck - K7MCG for the manual. I am in the process of replacing C11 as you requested, I will post the results.
Hello Walter - W2WlQ
Thanks for the input, I disconnected the pump motor and supplied power to it and it works fine.

Cheers
Chris

HI CHRIS:

I ONLY MEENTIONED THAT BECAUSE EVERY ONE I HAD TO REPAIR HAD A SHORTED MOTOR WITH A JAMMED SHAFT.I HAD TO HAVE THE MOTORS REWOUND.

THE MOTOR SHOULD BE LUBRICATED WITH A LIGHT MACHINE OIL WHILE YOU HAVE IT APART.

GOOD LUCK.

Hello Walter,
When you say lubricate the motor do you mean the shaft or pump area? I assume the shaft but not the pump. Is this correct?
Cheers

HI CHRIS:

I DO NOT KNOW HOW YOUR MOTOR AND PUMP ARE ASSEMBLED.I AM REFERRING MAINLY TO THE MOTOR LUBRICATION.USUALLY AT EACH END OF THE MOTOR THERE IS A SMALL LUBRICATEING HOLE AT THE TOP.

Hello Walter,
The bearing on the motor is a sealed one. It moves freely without any effort, however I did have a look and cleaned around a bit, my problem was a ceramic capacitor (C11) on the board which Chuck-K7MCG helped me find and now it works great.
I thank you for you input, I think the pump needed a clean anyway and now works great.
Many thanks
Chris

HI CHUCK:

GREAT

THAT WAS A CHEAP EASY CURE.

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS WORTH A POUND OF CURE.

If anyone in this discussion has a PDF copy of the manual on the 999SD-A I sure would appreciate an emailed copy. I just picked one up at a hamfest this weekend (in working order) and I'd really like to have the documentation on-hand, as it will probably see pretty regular use on my workbench. I also snagged a 966D which has a vacuum issue, if anyone happens to have a scan of that manual as well.

Thanks in advance for any help finding documentation on these!

My 999sd vacuum pump is not happy.

I have had a long time and it has been reliable.
Since I have spare tips and stuff I would prefer to repair it.

A schematic would be awesome

Any other tips are appreciated as well.

Many thanks!

Hello everyone,

I've owned this soldering station for an hour.

I got them cheap from a flea market. Unfortunately, the heating element for desoldering does not work on mine. When the plug is in, the pointer rises just a little bit. When I unplug the connector, the pointer swings all the way to the end. Does anyone have the wiring diagrams for me?

The resistance values ‚Äč‚Äčof the heating element and thermistor would also be enough for me to check

best regards Klaus from Germany
