Just take three new ones and see what they read... OK, but who can afford 'em?
If you can translate the base pattern (there are NO others based like the 7199), 6AN8 or 6BL8 should be close. If I had to replace a 7199, I'd rewire for one of those, or get a new Russian one...

------------------
I don't know about your tester, but my Knight 600 has a switch per pin. Filament pins go down, grid and plate for the section under test go up. Set the tester for 6AN8, then switch the pins that are different: triode is 1 and 9 instead of 1 and 2, pentode is 2,3,7 instead of 6,7,8. Make sense?
6AN8: http://hereford.ampr.org/cgi-bin/tube?tube=6AN8A
7199: http://hereford.ampr.org/cgi-bin/tube?tube=7199
------------------
(edited after seeing Tom's second post)
I've seen the 6GH8A recommended as a sub for the 7199 in audio applications- socket rewiring is required. I've never tried it.
7199: http://tdsl.duncanamps.com/show.php?des=7199
6GH8A: http://tdsl.duncanamps.com/show.php?des=6GH8A
I have a Conar 223 tester which has 12 levers with 3 positions. I can post its setup for the 7199 and a few other tubes if it will help.
-Steve W.
------------------
