How does this kit actually tie two pieces of HP gear together--for example an 8555 to the top of a 141T? I know the feet are removed from the top unit, but how do the side brackets tie the units together?

Two brackets, two trim strips, and mounting hardware are the contents of the kit. From WEBFLIS:

If it's like the HP ones we used for measuring receivers, it connects the instruments together at the sides along the face. You remove a few screws and plates, replace the plates with the brackets, and install the trim strips along the brackets. I recall there was no rear connection of any sort. Keysight says the brackets are 16" long.

Most of the time, folks didn't retain the plates that were removed - you see HP stuff on eBay without them, and can instantly tell they were bracketed to another instrument somewhere along the way....

My descripton is a bit terse. The brackets attach the sides, top/bottom....and run front to back.

There are nine kits, for various depth instruments and mounting styles (base vs rack mount....)

That should have read 5060-0216, which is the correct number after more research...

reason I asked is that some eBay seller is passing of the wrong 8445A to 8555A hardline jumper as a 08445-20022; instead he is selling a shorter version that requires removing the feet and using an optional kit to join the preselector to the 141-T cabinet. I was trying to figure how it worked, since I may have to make my own kit to keep the units from sliding. I bought it over five months ago so I may have a problem if he won't take it back.

Dealer is exchanging the cable. I hope he is sending the correct one this time, apparently there are several different cables depending on the physical configuration of the system.
