I just picked up a Triplett 630 Type 5 (new model) with reverse banana leads. I see some on E*pay, but it describes them for Simpson. Will the Simpson leads interchange with the Triplett. If this has been discussed before, my apologies.

The reverse banana leads are supposed to be "industry standard" size, but something nagging at me recalls two different sizes, small and large. Not sure, but if you google them and only one size pops up, there ya go.

Manual for the Triplett and the Simpson should specify the size of the test lead plugs ....

I have a model 60 that came with those miserable reverse bananas. I replaced them with 5-way binging posts with the screw-on insulated cap removed. They were just the right length for the case and almost look original. I don't know whether or not this will work with other models.

They are supposedly protecting us from ourselves, but are putting us at risk when we are forced to connive ways to circumvent these bastard jacks. With my lathe, I bore holes, part way, into brass spacers, to fit the banana plugs and solder leads into the small opposite end.

Busted out my Simpson 260 8P test leads for this..

OD. .322
ID. .178
Thickness (wall). .067

I love the meter but hate the lead options. That's why I also bought the 260 6P as well.

Oldaker makes Simpson compatible leads and possibly Probe Master. Give them a call for fitment options for your meter to be sure.

Your memory is perfectly fine. They are not the same size. I tried a test lead extension barrel and it would not fit over the pin on the meter jack.
