I've has this Magnavox console with a Collaro record changer for a while and finally got the motor freed and the mechanism all working except for one thing - the platter bearing is missing. It's a 4 speed turntable with auto/manual switch I think its a Conquest. Does anyone know where to find a platter bearing for this?

I could also use a stylus. I'm pretty sure its got the original cartridge.

Welcome to the Phono Forum at ARF.

Several items:

1. Do you know for sure the spindle is damaged ?
There are no suppliers I know in the U.S. that
have one for the Collaro Conquest.

2. Same for platter bearing.
I or someone else may have a race that
will fit yours.

Look around the changer to see if you can I.D. it
as a Conquest. A label is often glued onto the top
of the platter, under the mat.

You can also post in the "Radio Classified" section
your wanted items.

3. The platter mat is upside-down. The rubber tabs
should go into holes in the platter.

4. If your amplifier is a tube one, it needs basic
electronics service done.
If it has a power transformer, and the electrolytic
caps fail, the tranny can be damaged or destroyed.

5. Post a photo of the cartridge. Different ones were
used in these changers.

That's not a Conquest, but it may use the same bearing.

Don't need the spindle just the bearing. If it's not a conquest what is it? I don't think its an RC54.

I just need the bearing and washer for the platter.

Thanks for the help.

No model identification. I cant tell if its a Conquest or RC54, it's 4 speed with auto/Manual selector and tall knobs.

Yes, I havent bothered fully reassembling yet

I've already run through the amp section now trying to get the turntable working. I'm no stranger to tube amps and electronics

used in these changers.

Will do.

I found I had one of these Collaros, which is an H400.

Will you post a photo of the underside of the changer
to verify the cycling mechanism ?

The actual model number is usually hiding under the rubber platter mat. I believe it's a "Continental"

I ended up finding the bearing deep inside the case, it must have been lost by the previous owner and the reason he said it didn't work.

The stylus seems to be working but I'd still like to replace it if I can find one.
