I just bought a 67ish Zenith console. I got home, played one record and now the tone arm will not leave it's resting position. If I manually place it on the vinyl, when I turn on the player it goes right back to it's resting position. I know I must've done something I shouldn't, but how do I reset this arm to not act like this. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Read RepairTech's comments here, then, scroll up and→ read the whole thread. The model number of your changer will be rubber stamped or pasted to a paper tag underneath. Take a lot of photos if you begin to disassemble the changer. It's real easy to get lost!

The model number will lead to a service manual, with a troubleshooting and lubrication guide - which may be here on the forum.

Ask any questions or post photos if you are in doubt.

All auto mechanism problems are solved by disassembly, cleaning out all of the old grease and gunk, and reassembling, lubricating only where necessary. There are no shortcuts.

Post a photo of the changer. Is it the Zenith-made belt / idler hybrid changer or the cheaper, rebadged Voice of Music changer?
