My brother and I are troubleshooting a Philco RP-2 wireless record player that I just bought.

Does this unit use an antenna to transmit the sound to an AM radio -- frequency somewhere around 540 to 580? I do not see any place on the chassis to attach an antenna -- but in a YouTube video of one of these players the owner shows a long wire antenna strung across the wall/ceiling.

The unit looks good but no sound is getting transmitted. I hope to replace the two tubes which currently glow only slightly.

Thanks.

Before you replace any tubes, replace the two 6 uF Electrolytic caps with two 10 uF caps and test it. There is no antenna connection, according to the print, and it should broadcast up to 50 feet away.
