I guess the unit was made in the late 60's , early 70's. It has a 8 Track Player untested no 8 tracks to test with, AM/FM Stereo unit work great buttons have a little static , The Record Player does not work as far as dropping records and moving toning arm . I cannot get the adjustable knob which has 45/33 and Manual , on /off Auto to lock in auto . As you can guess I know nothing of the unit. Is there and easy fix to get the record player to work as designed, the record player does play great no problems there. Any help is apprciated. Tryed to include pictures of the unit but that was a no go also.

No quick easy fixes, but your problems are probably due to
old hardened grease on cycle function parts.

When you post photos, we'll know more about the
record changer.

Thorough cleaning of these changers is mandatory.
The changer must be removed from the cabinet to be serviced.

The record Player turntable is a Magnavox Micromatic , The turntable on /off manual/ auto switches located on the lower left corner of the record player all work but the automatic one does not lock in , if it is supposed to at all .

Thanks for the photo.

Are you familiar with how to stack records on the spindle,
place the record support arm over the records, and
then turn the On/Off/Reject knob to reject and release ?

This is how the automatic cycle works on these record changers.
There is no "automatic lock" of the cycle.

My player has the Man / Off / On / Auto in the lower left hand corner of the photo no matter how I turn it the records do not drop . Everything else works and moves smoothly. So if that function is not working how do I fix it ? Thankyou

We return to my original post, that the changer will probably
need to be cleaned of old grease.
Sometimes you can get away without dis-assembly, and clean
everything you can reach.

Pull the changer out of the console, and relate what model #
there is on the changer.
Then, we may find a service sheet for you with an exploded
diagram to aid in cleaning.
It does take some mechanical acumen to work on these.

I believe it has been covered here by hotwax about the "Auto" part of the switch. It does not lock in place. I think you have one of the 800 series changer. Check out the link below; part of owner manual of instructions.

The record player maintenance and servicing is beyond my capabilities . I will try to locate a repair man . I will operate it in manual until then.

Update the 8 Track Player has eaten 2 tapes . I thought the first tape might have been bad ,now it has destroyed another . It played the tape until the end then when I pulled the tape it was not torn but appeared to be played out . I will now have the record player and 8 Track to be fixed.

Here's a good explanation of what happens
when the 8-track tape comes off its reel.
Problem may not be with the 8-track player, but the
old tapes' splice and pressure pads.

Recommend watch the whole video for full info.

Hey Thanks while watching that one I found this one which explains in better detail how to repair the tape , and how the 8 Track functions, The only part in the repair not mentioned , or a question I have is do you clean the black rubber roller , which I will do if I have to repair the next tape I get if and when it breaks.
