Got this yesterday 12-17-14 from a friend who just wanted it out of his house. What I need to know is this turntable made by magnavox or by some other company. And does anyone know the SAMs photofact number for the console so I can get started on some maintenance . Here's a few pictures of what I picked up.ImageImageImageImage
I believe this was sold in 1961 or 1962. My friend has had it since new.

Don't think Magnavox made changers. This one looks like a Collaro made in England.

Magnavox owned Collaro by this time, so in a sense they made the changer.

Your set is pre 1963 and is all tube. You'll need to take the back off to get the
chassis numbers of the tuner chassis and amplifier chassis. These numbers will
be ink stamped on the chassis. The record changer is based on the British made
Collaro Conquest, around the time your set was built Magnavox IIRC had bought
Collaro. The changer is the Micromatic 600 series.

Model numbers are of limited value when finding service literature as the manuals
were published by the chassis numbers. I should have all the OEM manuals for your
set. I'll be glad to email copies to you if you'll PM me with your email address and
chassis numbers

That is a Symphony Model - (American Provincial Cabinet) from 61-62 and you will need to get the chassis numbers off of the Tuner and Amplifier in order to get the correct SAMs info...

The Turntable is a Collaro... You may find the model number stamped on the platter under the record Mat or printed on the bottom of the chassis.

Yes, take the back off and snap some pictures. I have one very similar and from what I am seeing you probably have an extremely nice amplifier in this unit. I am guessing it is one of the 9300 series amps, push pull 6BQ5s for each channel. A valuable and very in demand amp just on it's own, if so you got a great unit for free.

Here is link and pics to the one I found.

Saturday I'll get back into this console and take pictures and get chassis and tuner numbers. Thanks everyone for all the input/information, I know I'm going to love this thing.

New pictures of the interior of the console plus what numbers I could find on the chassis and tuner. I think the chassis is still a mystery .Image the numbers I could locate are 57-16-00, 1888201, and ko-597-b. hopefully someone can make sence of all this.ImageImage more to come.

First off edit this thing to bring it into alignment.

Revisit your model number. It's not right but I want
to know. And dust off the amp number.
I think you will find it is 93- something.
The tuner chassis number of 57-16-00 is good. That's covered
in SAMS 623-10.
The K0 597B is your multiplex. Look for another number
with 70-something. An extra there and it's a winner. It's covered
by SAMS 654-10. Once you get back on amp number I'll get some SAMS
posted. What a good set.

Thanks numbermaj 1 I'll get back into the console Sunday and search and dig for the chassis number. Good to know that I have that multiplex installed, surely a plus.

Hi Ronin61,

I'm going to post SAMS now. I'll do the two SAMS for 93-AMPS.
Still like the correct model number for x-ref purposes.

SAMS 586-8 for your amplifier.

https://app.box.com/s/z87awqdg3empgrtcnx8e

SAMS 623-11 for your amplifier.

https://app.box.com/s/4slqu40qfljeieum7wik

SAMS 623-10 for your tuner.

https://app.box.com/s/41xzpypk6hhfvzakn7ug

SAMS 654-10 for your multiplex.

https://app.box.com/s/aio7amgl2jblyk4k4bg4

I sometimes place notes on my SAMS. A little messy. But I call your attention
to SAMS 586-8 for clarification. There's an error by SAMS
in the title. SAMS 586-8 is for the 93-03-00 and 93-04-00 NOT 93-01-00
and 93-02-00 as shown. Now how correct either SAMS bears out in actual
equipment is no problem. The amplifier is simple to work on.

Yup that is the nice big stereo amp I spoke of. You have an excellent set there pretty much the same thing as mine but with a different cabinet styling-finish. It is an excellent performer and well worth putting the time and effort into.

Those 9300 series amps fetch 150 -250 on ebay, their design is perfect for a stand alone stereo amp. Then there is the possibility you still have the Mullard tubes in it. If so...those bring big money on top of it. All in all you hundreds of dollars of value in goodies there. You mentioned this was given to you for free from a friend. I would definitely send them a box of chocolates or something nice for X-mas or something as a thank you. That is a great player you are going to love.

A huge thank you to everyone for the info and a shout out too Numbermaj 1 for the schematics. It plays great now but after the rebuild it will blow us out of the house. I grew up with my fathers consoles, one a Motorola and his pride and joy a Grundig tube console . Thanks again everyone.

P.s. just restuffed my first electrolytic cap the other day for an Arkay f m tuner so I'll be restuffing these caps also.

Dusted off the amp today and confirmed that it is chassis number 9302-00. Is there a way to access the controls without pulling the tuner out of the console.

No, you need to pull it and recap the tuner, and spray out the controls with tuner cleaner/lubricant.

The schematic calls for 25v nonpolarized for C2 and C3, but a good replacement would be Part # 027-344 from Parts Express, which is rated at 100v.

These are the crossover caps.
