Just received a Wavetek 2405. Does anyone know if the display is backlit?

Isn't that a florescent display? Should be producing its own light. Did they claim it was working when they listed it?

It's a LCD display and the parts list shows backlit option, but I can't find any one who has this unit to say if it does or not, or is it a hardware option never connected or software enabled. The manual just say you can adjust the contrast. Its an excellent test set but the display has to be looked upon directly.

Have you not opened it up and looked? It should be pretty easy to see whether or not it has back lighting.

It is backlit with a glass luminous plate behind the LCD display but it is very dim. The power supply called for is 100vac / 400hz, it actually measures 104vac /467hz. The display is 40 character 2 lines. Does anyone think a luminous plate is available or LEDs or just gluing an LED at each corner and go for the crude look.
