Hey gang, I got this RCA console for free and it worked for a minute, but the cart seemed brittle from the beginning. It's now broken, and I need to replace it. However, I've not been able to locate this cart on NeedleDr/ TurnTableNeedles /eBay etc...

I would appreciate anything you know anything about this. Here is what I know:

The console is from 1974 Model VST 220S

I can't find anything about this turntable. The markings on the platter are: 1432741 SUB-1 R
and 274733812722

Same with the cart, can't find anything: RCA 207
There is also a 341 stamped in paint on the cart

It is interesting the way the cart clips in. There are only 2 pins, L and R. And the grounds are bridged...
Also, it doesn't lock into the front of the head, it is hinged allowing the front of the cart to articulate up and down.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Gary is the man!

If anyone else runs into this style cart, it's an old ceramic cart and the replacement is EV5624D (0.7 mil diamond LP needle)
He's got them, they just aren't listed.

That's great! Let us know how it sounds when you get it installed.

Be aware that a lot of the NOS replacement cartridges can be bad also. I tried 3 NOS cartridges from Gary, and they all were weak or bad in some way. He was very helpful, but sometimes you can't depend on them to work as new...being 40+ years old.

Thanks for the tip. Do you know if there is a write up on how to convert to a better cart?

This is like saying--'I have a Chevy and it needs parts' to a counter guy in Pep Boys..Not much there for him to go on. Start you own thread and provide some specific model info and pics.
