Purchased this R-388/URR on the bay for what I thought was a reasonable price with shipping included. {$325.00) Received it on Friday and spent last night cleaning it up
and aligning it. Serial number is unusual C25. It pulls .8 amps running. Tonight a about 9 P.M. I was able to listen to WWV on 5,10,15,20 and 25 megahertz. I over cleaned the
frequency drum and have ordered a new drum covering off the Bay. I am impressed with the sensitivity as it is between -103 and -114 on all bands. It looks to be untouched
but it had a grounded power cord installed, the electrolytic can looks new and all the tubes tested good, It is about 3 to 5 Khz off frequency but I can live with that for now.

Super cool! I like it!

Just got a circa 1949 Dahlberg Radio 49-6 plascon coin-op at a local antiques show today. It has the keys and coin box, works on-coin, and just has one very tight hairline near the volume control. The price was very fair too. I like how the pillow speaker is listenable left right in it's cradle on the side. It has a big metal flange on one side that would've slipped into a bracket on a headboard. You could look-up at it and read the nice lit dial correctly. It looks pretty cool atop my old cigarette machine. I'm reading that these could be anywhere from 1949 to 1954. Anyone sure about it?

PS - how do I make this link viewable here from IMGUR?

On the way home from the Sunday flea market, stopped at a tag sale that had these Realistic amp and tuner pieces. P-P 6V6 amp.

I hope to pick up this Fairbanks Morse 8AC2 tomorrow.

Well, I got another Fairbanks-Morse. It is fair like the guy said. First look:

The good:
outer dial glass and inner dial glass very good.
bezel good.
cabinet solid.
finish might be saved by some miracle.
has 3 of 4 original knobs.
turret cover there
I got it cheap.
the bad:
chassis needs lots of naval jelly.
needs tuning belt.
turret cover needs naval jelly.
plastic middle bezel in about 95 different pieces.
one speaker pin loose because connector has chip.
grille clothe deteriorated
missing bottom part of the middle horizontal bar.

Now if I can find a schematic with the power supply (found lots without it)
Someone had been in there and replaced a 30/80 mfd (according to the parts list) with a 30/30 and a couple of wires were cut. All of the schematics I've found don't include the power supply circuit, and that's the only part I need. Anyone have one?

Schematic on Nostalgia air shows power plug and rectifier tube. That's the power supply, isn't it?

American Bosch 515. Actually found a while back, just getting around to posting. Several other radios including a Stromberg Carlson 68 will be added as photos are resized down to regulation. Saw a larger one of this model in the late 70's when I was just beginning to have an interest in old radios. It had the same unusual dial, but the transformer was burnt out, so it was a no go. Found this one on the internet. One of the two cap cans is puking and I'm not sure the transformer is good on this one either. It was powered on for only a few minutes to avoid further damage. Its working on 100% old parts except one capacitor which was probably replaced in the 60's, and does play, but its retired until a full recap job is finished. It does sound good for a small set. The dial has a metal drum in front of the pilot lamps, there are two slits backed with red plastic on the drum which the lamps shine through (see 2nd Photo.) The drum moves and shows the station through the slits, instead of a needle going across an open dial. My cats (Rusty Nail & Blue) ordinarily sniff and inspect, then leave be most of what I bring into the house, but they really are enjoying being in and around this one frequently. I haven't a clue as to why.

Very nice.I love your cute models posing with your gear .They are so cute.

Wow,
Great stuff coming in..
I love that Fairbanks dial A+
That Zenith is neat, There is one at a local antique shop but they want $250.00 untested..
Thats not going to happen...

My find was received yesterday off eBay.
I have been wanting one of these but the price was always silly.
He packed it real well but only used one box about 1 1/2" bigger than the radio!
I was amazed it did not get broken bad.. Some crushing but it is fixable..

Kirk

Picked up this sweet matching (1477) set of Westinghouse RBM's today from a friend. I found em a year and a half ago and passed on them but my buddy grabbed em. He went clear thru them giving a full restoration and now they have ended up in my lap again. I am building a WWII Navy station and they will sit with my National RBL this weekend after some rearranging is done in the radio room.

Enjoy!

I have them all on disc, but I prefer paper. Get lucky now and then.
