Are you tired of blowing snow instead of mowing grass. I mowed my lawn yesterday. Are any of you-all coming to the SCARS auction on February 17? The weather forecast shows 76 degrees F and sunny for that day.

None of the above.
Had a good time at the Orlando Hamcation swapfest yesterday in sunny 85° weather.
The really good news is that I was a good boy and limited my acquisitions to an Autek QF-1, though there were many tempting boatanchors and other goodies to be had.

The gardeners mow ours every Wed.
Orlando Hamfest both Friday and Saturday. Bought a nice Tek Scope 2236 And a really great foot long hot dog and a beer. Plus yes a few parts. Both days were into the low 80's and sunny.

In our neighborhood, they charge $50 for just a mow and blow on our lot! At least we were smart enough to hire a contractor to repair the drywall and do the painting on the master bathroom renovation we have underway. I painted the downstairs bathroom, and that was drudgery, with all kinds of edges and so forth and no good place to put my legs. Will you be attending the auction?

Naw, I'm a piker; just 86,000 sq ft, or a hair under two acres, with about 1-1/4 of it lawn. Gardener gets $185/mo (I wish my damn water bill was that cheap).
The only SCARS event I usually go to is the closest one, at Jimmy Fisher's lot in Burbank. They USED to have one in Van Nuys, but that was ages ago.

Are you going to go to either one? I looked for you at the last two in June, but no Stephen.

To be honest, I would rather blow the snow down my 200 ft driveway a few times a year than mow the full 3 acres 3-4 times a month. Although, I look forward to warmer weather, I am not looking forward to mowing grass. Perhaps I should invest in a yard Roomba? -Steve

Light duty fence and turn them loose they will handle the grass. John k9uwa

Do they really make a yard Roomba? BTW, your driveway would take up over 1/3 of the total sq footage on one of those small 120 something foot x 60 something foot (6000 - 8000 sq ft) California standard lots. BR, Terry

BR, Terry I used the "Roomba" name as a joke as they remind me of a Roomba. https://www.husqvarna.com/us/products/r ... wn-mowers/I've thought it would be nice to get the 1.25 acre model to take care of the back yard. This way all I would have to mow is the front and around the house/barn. This way it isn't so obvious I have it to a passerby who would like to steal and/or vandalize it. A goat or two would be fine, but then I will have to take care of them. -Steve

BTW, I edited my previous post as most standard lots in California, that I am familiar with, are 60 something foot x 120 something foot (6,000 - 8,000 sq ft)...not 120 something foot x 160 something foot.

You gotta be jivin' me; I haven't seen a 120 foot deep lot since my dad bought a raw one to build our first house, in 1947. Tract houses out here, built since the early '70's, generally seem to have very shallow back yards.
