My radio of this type has a damaged volume/squelch/band select control for the UHF band on the right side. I'm looking for a radio in ANY condition that still has an intact and operating display/control circuit board for the front controls. This board mounts to the back of the radio front and contains all the buttons, switches, and rotary controls (pots and selection encoder for the radio) plus the display.
If you have such a radio please PM me with a description and your offer and let's talk.
Thanks,
Terry

Did you call Yaesu and ask if they have it? A friend dropped her FT-2880 and broke the vol/squelch pot. Yaesu had 'em and shipped to for me $5 including shipping.
Good luck in any case!

Madlabs,
Thanks for the suggestion. I contacted the Yaesu service unit in California and unfortunately the needed parts are not available. Not surprising given the age of this radio. Some searching on the web shows that the failure in my radio was VERY common in this model and known by Yaesu. Darn! The replacement will probably be some different brand.
So still looking for a parts radio.
Terry

Skip,
I've studied the service manuals for both radios and the "Panel Unit", which is the board I need, has a different part number than the board in my radio. I don't think it will work.
Thanks though-- I appreciate the reply.
Terry

Sill looking for a parts radio. I'd love to get mine repaired for the home shack.
