Good luck. I have an MP VI which I hope to restore when I retire.

Keep us posted Jon, looks like a wonderful project. It's not actually the last Masterpiece, though. In 1938 a new "1939 Masterpiece VI" was designed that had only 20 tubes. It used the same 4-tube front end familiar since the Masterpiece IV, but all of the IF and AF sections of the receiver were redesigned from the first Masterpiece VI. A few of them were built and sold before McMurdo Silver went out of business in Oct. 1938. As of today, I know of 4 of them that exist. https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/mcmurdo_m ... vi_20.html

Pay careful attention to the wiring harnesses in the tuner unit. Someone (was it you, Rodney?) warned me that he went though an MP VI and had to replace the wiring harnesses.
You are indeed fortunate to have the correct Super-Giant speaker. I have an 18 inch Jensen with many thanks to the late Doug Houston, but it is a theatre speaker and the field coil will have to be reworked/rewound to use with the MP VI. I'm not going to pay $6K+ for the correct Super-Giant.
P.S. Your power supply is in much better shape than mine. Mine will need to be re-chromed.

I have had to replace several of the harnesses.

Interesting that speaker has the hole in the base for the tweeter switch. MSMVIs do not use the switch.
Better check the field coil resistances to make sure that it is truly a VI since the field coils are not the same for the V.

It looks like someone got started on the restoration, and realized that it was too big of a job.
Those IRC "BT" style resistors are rated at 20 percent tolerance, and they sometimes hold their value pretty well. The color arrangement is just the same as for the dogbone type.
I will send you a PM with my email address.

Yes, I am well aware of the special cone which the Super-Giant speakers use.
The 18 inch Jensen theatre speakers do not have the stiffer inner portion of the cone. I haven't decided what, if anything, I will do about that.

The easiest thing to do would be, add a teeter.
