AK never used plastic knobs. They used bakelite and wooden knobs. I've never seen an AK advertisement showing a 447 with bakelite knobs, only wooden knobs. I have seen AK 447s with bakelite knobs but I think those are aftermarket replacements of the wooden knobs, most likely by collectors over the past 40 or so years. There were other AK models with similar dial and knob arrangements that were advertised with bakelite knobs, just not the 447. If I'm wrong, I'd love to see an actual advertisement showing an AK 447 with bakelite knobs.

Thanks, that is what I thought. Plus, I probably should have said bakelite instead of plastic, even though bakelite is a form of plastic (Bakelite (/ˈbeɪkəlaɪt/ BAY-kəl-eyet; sometimes spelled Baekelite) or polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride was the first plastic made from synthetic components.)

I think they were wood, as mine are, but you never know if some slipped out of the factory with plastic. And yes, bakelite is a plastic.

WOW~

Still available.

Given what some 447's in much worse condition have sold for, I am surprised that someone local hasn't picked it up and relisted it with shipping.
