Event starts at 8:00AM July 20 2152 Central Ave Alameda CA 94501 This is our great BIG annual sales, auction, flea market and live radio show event. As always, there will be a YUGE amount of electronics and other stuff in the back yard and 2 40 footy storage containers crammed full of everything from consoles, radios, stereos, speakers, parts, tubes, books, and a zillion other things We are actively building the inventory for the auction and this year we will have some pretty nice stuff. Here is the in progress catalog, of which we will be adding to until the event, ultimately to 200 items. https://www.californiahistoricalradio.c ... ary-v3.pdf Anyway, the flea market part starts at 8:00AM and the line starts out front of the building, first come, first serve. A date is required in the topic title, more than just the year. It's not even included in your post.

Sadly, the timing of the event-on a weekday morning-makes it impossible for me to drive down from Sacramento. It would mean leaving at dawn and crawling through stop and go traffic for several hours just to get to Alameda. I remember when driving to San Francisco from Sacramento took only about 80 minutes, now it's over 2 hours-off peak. I hope collectors who are closer than I am have a great time.

Thank you to all of you who played a role in this event again this year. Well done! Great way to spend a day each summer.
As we live and learn a bit each year, one tip to pass along is that maybe the starting bids and flea market prices were a little too high this year. I still got a lot of nice radios to work on, but it would be nice to see fewer of them with no bids.

What did the 7S232 Walton end up selling for?

Thanks to everyone that came out. anyway, the Walton did not sell. I think because the starting price was too high at $1,500. So we're going to sell it at a future venue. it's clear to me that we're going to have to do a better job of marketing this event. What we're finding is that with each passing year less and less people are coming. That and we don't seem to be seeing many new faces.
anyway, many of the sets that did not sell will simply be folded into our upcoming Niles Fremont antique show. we're starting to find that in many cases some of the ordinary plastic table sets do much better at these sales and they do it our auctions and that explains why the starting prices on some plastic sets usually in the $50 range , don't tend to sell at auction but can actually sell for more at these upcoming events.
Thank you to everyone that showed up and made this event possible! Without all of you the event would have never happened so, make sure and show up next week for the infamous all you can eat buffet and make sure and Holloway 10215 consoles to

I decided to go to the ARRL Nevada State Convention ham radio swap in Reno instead, because I already have too many old radios in the closet, and also because my aunt is dying of cancer in a nursing home in Spanish Springs and she only has a couple months, and she wanted to see me one last time. I got the variac I posted in the test equipment forum along with a HF antenna and a few odds and ends. It was worth it just to say goodbye to "Ole Bett", even though the swap itself wasn't really that great. The young'uns really don't care about history in general, they take a Victorian house with a gorgeous interior and "update" it so it looks horrible, but hey it's now a "smart home"!

I was determined to come away from there empty-handed, or at least with nothing bigger than could be held in one hand, but the variety and quality on offer in that auction was surely tempting! Scotts* and Marantz and Fishers, oh my!
In the end, out in the flea market area, I bought a fully-complete, decent-but-dusty Hallicrafters SX-25 for $20...because it had a model-specific knob I was missing on my first SX-25! It's still in the trunk of my car, until I can find a place to park it until it enters the service queue...
*(both E.H. and H.H.)
