This ad lists two speakers in the 17D303 model, but in the 17D12 clock model the clock is placed where the second speaker would likely have been located. I'm not sure why some Dualettes without the clock have only one speaker.

Neither has been here since 2016.

Ha-HA!
Old thread sucked me in.
Darn, I wouldn't mind having one of those TVs (for the right price).

Shango066 has a new video on one of these, he's less than impressed by the build quality, though the set he has looks a little sun bleached.

I took it to a repair shop in Schenectady where I was told to turn around with it and put it back in the car. The repair service stopped working on tube sets about three years ago after the state of New York passed legislation classifying old sets as being environmentally hazardous. I am not sure what to do now...

Why would an old TV, tube or otherwise, be any more environmentally hazardous then a newer one? Would it not be better repairing an old TV then using brand new materials, and energy, in China, to manufacture a new one? It sounds like more like a "Go away and don't bother us because we don't know how to work on it" excuse.

That would be due to the lead used in the solder. Environmentalist (emphasis on mental) have deemed the lead in solder of old electronics is a hazard to life on earth as we know it. I work in the communications industry and lead-free solder has been a real pain. The lead free grows "whiskers" which are microscopic and look like hair. It can grow and short out sensitive components. It's a European thing that people in the US feel we need to be like Europe.

Sorry for the soapbox.
