The Archers.

The Archers is a British radio soap opera on BBC Radio 4 - the BBC's main spoken-word channel - broadcast since 1951. It was initially billed an everyday story of country folk and now, a contemporary drama in a rural setting. Having aired over 18,900 episodes, it is the world's longest-running drama.

The episodes are only thirteen minutes long. They're broadcast on BBC Radio Four every day, Sunday to Friday at seven p.m. And they're repeated the next day at two p.m. - except on Saturdays.

Six per week, plus 75 mins. omnibus

I listen (it's on in the background) daily on AM... :)

oh... it's no Johnny Dollar... more diary cows, and the everyday trials and tribulations of the varied cast members.

It's hard to tell if a story so compelling as to gather an audience could be produced these days. It would be hard to interest many without fracturing the decency standards at most stations.
