Picked up an Admiral Model 19A11SN tv with a 7JP4 tube, circa 1948. I found out that power transformer chassis were top of the line but I will stick to repairing radios. Can bring to Kutztown if interested in restoring.

That's a classic '40's TV and definitely one of the better 7 inch compact TV's. Admirals at that time were all very good. Even though that model had a power transformer, it was still priced around $179 like the many others were. Those CRT's, when tested good, are getting harder to find and worth $100-$150 alone.

A big plus with them is having the original cardboard back, channel plate that's not badly warped, and it's original correct knobs. Of course no cracks. Other than a minor hairline in a non-conspicuous area, a serious one will destroy it's value.

This one has a crack along the top and bottom seam of the cabinet but when epoxied should not show. Has one original knob. Everything else looks ok.

If the crack can be epoxied right at a seam it will not destroy the sets value, but it does hurt it quite a bit. The "waffle" pattern knobs aren't very easy to come across, so that effects the value too. I would say a very good, clean, complete set, unrestored, with an untested CRT, would sell for $150-$175, so you can price it accordingly.

Once again thanks for the information. I guessed at a value of $50 but apparently off quite a bit. I am wondering if I should test the CRT for filament continuity since that is the main driver of the value for this TV?

The most 7JP4s die of cathode surface depletion not heater issues.

The bottom line is that if the CRT tests very good, then that will be most almost all of the sets value. I hate to say it, but in that case you'd be better off parting it out. Being tested, you could get over $100-$150 for the CRT. The chassis, and CRT mask, might get a few bucks, but not much. The cracked cabinet is of very low value. Selling it all together for $50 or more will likely scare most buyers away.

Thanks. I have no problem parting it out. Certainly a lot easier to ship that way.
