WARCI welcomes you to our first meet of 2020!

Sunday, January 19, 2020.

PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW LOCATION!
Hampton Inn & Suites Milwaukee West
8201 W Greenfield Ave, West Allis, WI 53214

Doors will open at 7:00 AM for setup. The flea market starts at 8:00 AM, announcements are held at 10:30 AM followed by the donation auction.

There is no charge for admission!

As typical of most swap meets, the items are for sale by individual collectors, and most are one-of-a-kind. So for best selection (and the best deals), BE EARLY! But please stay around and get to meet some of the club members. These swap meets are a great way to connect with other local collectors that share your interests. By socializing at the meets you can find others that may have what you are looking for, radios & parts, people that can service your radios, and you can make some good friends.

Swap meet spaces are $7 for WARCI members, and $10 for non-members.

Please note, due to limited space, tables will be limited to 2 tables per seller for the West Allis meets.

Go to http://www.warci.org for additional information about the Wisconsin Antique Radio Club.

It would be helpful to have a map for which doors are being used, which room its being held in and suggested parking for sellers and buyers.

Good idea, let's see what I can do.

The meet will be held in the conference room, which is the northernmost wing of the complex.

The parking lot is on the west side of the north end of the complex with a direct entry to the conference room.

The door we will be using to load/unload faces the parking lot we will be using. That way we don't drag a mess in through the lobby to mess up their carpet.

Buyers and other foot traffic can use either the direct outside door or come through the hotel lobby.

Here is a link to the Google map for the hotel location: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Hampt ... 2?hl=en-US

You're welcome. Your question gave me something to think about when posting these club event teasers.

So, thanks for asking!

See you there!

Oh boy. Sub-zero wind chill for the swap tomorrow morning. On the bright side, most people will be handling wood radios and not cold metal boatanchors.

It's January in Wisconsin. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Good! The weather was cold, but the turnout was great. We had enough sellers that we ran out of tables almost immediately. For March, we'll request that additional tables be set up outside the room for the WARCI staff to make more room for the sellers. Photos are here: http://warci.org/january-19th-2020-meet-photos/

We're already looking for a bigger venue for 2021, and we've booked a new venue in New Berlin for September that we're hoping will be a great fit for the early 2021 meets. More info on that meet is here: http://warci.org/event/warci-swap-meet-36/?instance_id=123

How much did that bag of 6146 tubes sell for in the auction?

I don't have the exact price, but I believe it was about $10.

In the first post and the flyer it didn't mention pizza like usual so I assumed food wasn't being allowed in the new venue. In all the years I've attended the swap as buyer or seller I've never stayed long enough for the pizza. I'm not a highly sociable guy that can stand around for hours and chat. Only once did I stay for the auction. That was the one where skids of old boatanchors were at giveaway prices and they were loaded with 2A3 and 45 tubes. I didn't buy any because we were told we had to take the whole dirty grimy super heavy chassis and not just the tubes. But as expected, I saw some shameless guys do just that. Just curious. If I ever do stay long enough is there cheese and sausage pizza? Thats the only kind I like.

There is always a variety, including the vanilla varieties such as you enjoy.

I'm cursed/blessed? with sensitive tastebuds. Plain food tastes great. Can't tolerate spicy. ( or most veggies ) I'm drifting off topic...

All the pizzas at the Hampton were heavily spiced. I found them quite unusual, but very tasty. You might not want to try one of theirs. (More for the rest of us!)
