To start, I dug this little gem out of my garage recently after keeping it there since my neighbor gave it to me some time back. Anyway, I hooked this thing up to one of those converter boxes that my grandparents had way back from 2009 when the big switch happened.Speed Test essay writer Normally, after using it as an AM/FM radio for some time, it turns off like a champ. But since I’ve been using it for a TV for the past few hours, it won’t turn off. This an AC/DC and battery TV, so if I pull the plug from the back of the TV, it will still stay on even when the switch is in the off position, presumably because it switches to battery power. If I unplug it from the wall and let it sit, the On/Off switch works fine again.

I have no clue what could possibly cause this and would love some insight.

Normally I would not take issue with this, but I am looking to use the TV as part of a personal project and want it to work 100% correctly.

Most likely the on/off switch has failed in a closed position. On a set like that the power switch is often on the DC side so it works seamlessly with AC or battery (as you've discovered). It might be that the switch itself is just mechanically sticking inside, and might be restored to full function with a squirt of contact cleaner. Worst case you'd have to replace the switch.

Switches were a problem on at least one of the Zenith 5" B&W's BUT
I dont remember if this was one ! Sorry I am aging.... Anyhows if it
dosnt have a "hard" power switch that clicks try cleaning the mode
switch ( AM-FM-TV ) and any slide switches, clock switches etc.
You may also be in sleep or another mode.
A pix of the set & controls would help us also.
