I use this little klooge for calibration and to check meter movements. It's built up on a piece of wood with a small piece of masonite for a front panel. There are two binding posts and two pin packs. The pin jacks are convenient for a DMM when using it as a calibration voltage source. To check a movement, connect a DMM in series with the movement. Start with the pot fully counterclockwise.

A ten-turn pot makes it easier to set precisely. The 4.7 K limits the current. The LED isn't necessary but helps not leaving it on and draining the battery.

Having something like this around is a lot handier that having to set up something each time you need it.

The next step would be to add a Bandgap Reference for really accurate voltages.
