I’m new to this hobby and was wondering what’s a good supply house to purchase transistors and caps and the like? What’s your thoughts?

Welcome to the hobby! :D

For transistor circuits I would go to

www.digikey.com

or

www.mouser.com

Thank you sir. I might have made a mistake, I was looking for old radio components. Would these be the same places?

Both should have high voltage caps, but you can also buy from Sals http://www.tuberadios.com/capacitors/

or Bobs http://www.radioantiques.com/capacitors.html

I apologize if I misunderstood.

I thought you were looking for capacitors and transistors to work on transistor radios.

Most capacitors in transistor radios are either electrolytic or ceramic, plus a few low voltage film caps.
All are usually under 25 volts.

As for vintage transistors such as Germanium types, I don't know of any parts suppliers which sell them.
Usually you need to look on ebay or find junker radios to donate. Maybe even Amazon?

Sal and Bob sell 630 volt film capacitors and electrolytics in the 160 volt to 450 volt range.

If that is what you are looking for yes they are great suppliers to buy from! Also Antique Electronic Supply and Just Radios
www.tubesandmore.com
www.justradios.com

I hope that helps.

For the most part no one has made germanium transistors in many decades. I think small signal germanium diodes like 1N60, 1N270, etc. might be made somewhere in the world. I generally avoid ebay unless there is no other way to find things. The former Soviet countries seem to have some old stock. Although they are not guaranteed to be good. Prices can be higher than they should be.
It also can be true of some semiconductors (ICs) made in the last half of the 20th century.
It may seem surprising, but it is easier to find a tube made in the 1940's than some semiconductors made in the 70s or 80s.
You can find substitute parts however. Replacements made by NTE are not too hard to find.

You can try google if you can't find something at the normal locations, oddball sources pop up from time to time.
For capacitors and resistors not only Digikey but Mouser is good. They have such a wide variety however that finding just what you want can be tricky. You have to get acquainted with using their search function.
The Mouser website has seemed to be very slow loading for the last couple of years.
Sal's is a good source for the tube circuit voltage caps.
