Wow, you almost have to get on your hands and knees to tune in that radio. Not exactly what I'd consider to be an upgrade, more like a downgrade.

At least the radio and cabinet are somewhat complimentary. The rectangular shape of the escutcheon matches the lack of frilly ornamentation on the cabinet. The horizontal speed stripes on the escutcheon seem to reflect the two horizontal stripes on either side of the grille. And the rectangle formed by the negative space in the spreader bars even matches with the shape of the escutcheon.

I can't say I like it, but I've seen a heck of a lot worse. It could use a dial face and an eye tube, too.
