He would get one foot up on the keyboard and the crowd loved it. Amazing he survived those early years. RIP.

He was in the teen-age oriented flicks, "High School Confidential", and "American Hot Wax". Got in trouble for marrying his 13 year old cousin, I believe in '57 or so.
R.I.P. killer.

Years ago on "Cajun Pawn Stars" a guy brought in a 45 rpm record of Jerry Lee's first record. It sounded very hillbilly, and they had an expert verify it was authentic. They started at an offer of $15,000 and gradually went up to $30,000 but the owner wouldn't accept the offers. He ended up taking it back home! Imagine if you had bought several records, maybe some rare, what they'd be worth something today?

R.I.P. killer. Yes, it took him a long time to recover from that as his popularity plummeted immediately after that.

Only about 2 weeks ago I had came across this video titled "The 1956 Sun Sessions. Its from what the second photo in the first post above. The video isn't a movie but just the audio accompanied by pictures. Anyway, the introduction is interesting and the impromptu jam session which occurred was something I had never heard before I re (although it was an album of it had been released called "The Million Dollar Quartet). Anyway, what I'm getting to is that at the time Jerry Lee Lewis was a compleate unknown, he was just a piano player the studio hired or something. So, that record you not only heard Jerry play but also sing for the first time. When you listen to the album his voice is unmistakable (although Elvis did the majority of the singing). I enjoyed it, it's definitely was not a planned recording, nor did any of them at the time realize their jam session was something that would be released. in fact it seems they didn't even realize their session was being recorded. Anyway, I've always been a fan of Jerry Lee Lewis. It's always sad to see another icon go. Here's the 1956 jm session: https://youtu.be/wQjOi8N8X9o

My great, great, great grandmother got married at 14. But that was 1812. With time it became less acceptable, so the age went up. Loretta Lynn married at 15.
As I recall, it was actually in England that the trouble arose. So I guess standards were different over there.

You can also find Carl Perkins and his band on YouTube as well performing on TV. After seeing that picture of the recording studio makes me want to take the tour there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKsDQaTkkxoThis tribute to the then-recently departed Elvis Presley appeared 45 years ago on the Johnny Cash Christmas Special, (which, incidentally, aired right after the final Bing Crosby Christmas Special, with the now famous David Bowie duet of the Little Drummer Boy, as part of the CBS line up on 11/30/77). It now becomes a nice tribute to Jerry Lee too. They're all gone now.

I've always loved his music, such a great singer, too! Was a big fan as a teenager of his country song, "Middle Age Crazy", there is a great series of 8 or 9 animated clips recently made before his passing about him in Mike Judge's , "Tales From The Tour Bus" worth checking out in a search for anyone who enjoyed his music. Ironic for all the hubbub about his marriage that kept him from being the "King", that the couple stayed together for around 20 years after that.
