About a month ago I had a thread about parasitic suppressors, where I received a rig with one that was cracked. It was definitely from overheating so I am trying to track that down now.

Long story short, I ended up replacing nearly all resistors in the rig because they were out of tolerance; in the +20% (and more) out of range range. As I continue to dig into it I have noticed that there is a 6JH8 in place of what is supposed to be a 7360. There are some differences between the two but I don't know if those differences are in an area where it matters or not. Could use some advice from those with more knowledge / experience.

The 6JH8 is a commonly used replacement for the more expensive 7360 and there are other "sheet beam" tubes that are also sometimes used. The pin-out is different so you do have to rewire, this is from some notes I save with my Johnson SSB adapter which uses many of these expensive sheet beam tubes:

7360 FUNCTION 6JH8
PIN 1 CATHODE PIN 7
PIN 2 SCREEN GRID PIN 3
PIN 3 CONTROL GRID PIN 6
PIN 4 FILAMENT PIN 4
PIN 5 FILAMENT PIN 5
PIN 6 PLATE #1 PIN 8
PIN 7 PLATE #2 PIN 9
PIN 8 DEFLECTOR #1 PIN 2
PIN 9 DEFLECTOR #2 PIN 1

On edit, for those with these expensive tubes the 6ME8 and 6HW8 are also possible candidates to replace them. When I found my Johnson SSB adapter uses three of them I thought it was prudent to lay in a few potential spares. The 7360 isn't known for its long life but it is a very useful tube and makes an excellent mixer and product detector. These came in towards the tail end of tube type TV sets and were primarily used in the color demodulation circuits. Because of their use in TV sets if you are willing to do some slight socket rewiring it is easy to find inexpensive sheet beam tubes.
