A few weeks ago or so there was a post on a good easy to use youtube download website. Does anyone recall what that site was? I tried searching but had no luck. I’m looking to download music or old radio shows from YouTube and put them on my computer.

Keep Vid works for me.
https://keepv.id/

Paste the video address in the box and enter, close the new window that pops up and select what quality file you want to download.

What browser are you using? Firefox has some good Youtube downloader extensions/add ons. I don't think Chrome does, though. The big G doesn't like you downloading from YT.

I think because of copyright YT no longer allows downloading music, etc.
Youtube "Down-loader" used to work but no more, "Keep Vid" used to work last year, I have not tried it lately.

Saving Youtube videos:

add .mp4 to your downloaded file name.

Greg.

oh... switch-off any Ad. or Script blocker.
• avoid offers to install any downloader!

360p or 480p mp4 quality is plenty good enough. lol

I'm sure they don't want you to, but as said there are downloaders that work just fine. The one i use in Firefox is updated regularly when YT makes changes in attempts to stop them from working.

In the end, if all else fails and you just want the audio, record it with Audacity or your favorite audio program as the video plays.
If you want the whole video, there are screen capture programs.

You could just install the FF add-on "Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express". It puts a green button just below the video. Click on the button and it drops down a menu giving you selections of what format you want to save it in. Click and it downloads. Easy peasey.

The one I use in FF is Youtube Video and Audio Downloader. I've been using it for 3 or 4 years now.

I like the downloaders that work in your browser and do the conversion on your computer vs relying on a third party website to do the downloading/converting.

Firefox and Video Downloadhelper - the icon sits up there with the AdBlockers etc - when your movie is running in YouTube you just click on the icon and then a new screen pops up with the URL at the top - click on the URL and then on "Save" - done

Another good one is 4K Video Downloader. It works very well for YouTube videos.

I use youtube-dl.exe a cmd line program, not for the faint hearted and requires some know how to get video AND sound but I can download any video that does not require payment to view, any size that was uploaded.

Only for the daring. I mean, that appears to be a sure way of getting the computer infected with all sorts of trojans and viruses. I did download a Highway Patrol episode from youtube with my Dell XPS8910 desktop computer with Windows 10, but if I should ever use that software in the future, I'll sacrifice my Dell XPS410 desktop computer with Windows XP.

Unless there is some problem with that particular site, downloading from youtube isn't going to get you infected with anything. I've downloaded a LOT from youtube over the years on Windows (with no antivirus installed, BTW) and now Linux for the last 2 years.

That is one reason though why I prefer downloaders that do the downloading and converting directly on your computer instead of some third website. You never know what info they could be acquiring from you or what they could be putting in the files you receive from them.

Well, don't say you weren't warned. I mean, after I got through downloading the Highway Patrol episode, I was besieged with a tsunami of McAfee and Norton anti virus pop ups, and the screen was freezing up as well.

In an effort to clear up the mess, I had my AOL System Mechanic perform a thorough deep system analysis to remove whatever clutter it could. Afterwards, I ran the Dell XPS8910 desktop computer through a System Restore.

As I had to leave town today, I will likely uninstall the Google Chrome, and then reinstall Google Chrome as the first order of business tomorrow (as I was still confronted with those pop ups). Wow.

In the meantime, as I'm currently using my mother's computer, I'll stay on Microsoft Edge for the rest of the day.

After I arrived back home tonight, I uninstalled and reinstalled Google Chrome so it appears that all of the anti-virus pop ups are gone now. Great!

I love Linux. I never have to deal with antivirus crap, popups, or any of those other M$ problems.
